Looking back...

It all began nine years ago.............

Jeremy and I started dating in 2000 which was also our senior year in high school. I love that we were high school sweethearts. Look how young we look!!!!!!!

We both graduated from LA TECH in 2005.

He proposed to me in June 2005. I knew something was up because we never did things like.....take a stroll along the river. He was so sweet though. I was so nervous I couldn't even remember what he said. I made him tell me all over again at dinner that night. ;)

and four years ago today we got married...

We went to the Bahamas for our honeymoon and had a blast! I can't wait to go back.

We have truly been blessed.......

Happy Anniversary Jeremy! I feel so lucky that we've been able to share so much together. I truly am blessed to have you in my life. I love you and look forward to spending the rest of my life with you.

My baby is 9 months old !

Graham is 9 months old. I am amazed each and everyday at all the new things he is doing. He's learning to explore the world around him. It's so much fun watching him. I am so thankful that the Lord has allowed me to stay home with him. I know it's not for everyone, but it definitely the right thing for us. He is certainly keeping me busy these days. He is constantly on the go and he is always looking for something to get into. He also wants someone with him at all times playing with him. At least he's social:) A baby sure does changes everything. :)

I am really getting in the Christmas spirit. I know Graham won't remember this one, but I'm excited about his first Christmas and the traditions we're starting. So yesterday I put in my favorite Christmas CD , gave Graham a few toys, and I started to decorate the house with red and green. I was quickly reminded that Christmas isn't about Santa, presents, or even my cute decorations. Tears actually came to my eyes thinking about the precious baby that came into this world to die for me . It's all about HIM, not anything else. A baby really does change everything, doesn't it? I pray Graham will grow up and know the real reason for the season, not the world portrays this "holiday" to be about :)

So Graham - What are you up to these days?

-You're CRAWLING!!!

- You weigh 20 lbs 11 oz.

- You're 28.5 inches long

- You're wearing 9 month clothes and some 12 months

- You just started to pull up

- You love to listen to music

- You eat three meals a day with juice/snack in between

- You say "mama" all the time and have also started saying "baba"...I trying to teach you to wave when you say it:)

- You're holding your own bottle now

- You're drinking out of a sippy cup

- Still no teeth :)

- You're eating a few table foods

- You wear a size 3 diaper

- You love to laugh

- You always want someone playing with you

- You're the sweetest boy EVER!!! I love you!!

8 months, Halloween, and more...

Sorry to my massive amount of followers that I have not posted in a while. October has been a CRAZY and busy month!!!!!! At the beginning of the month we flew to Tampa for a few days. Our PawPaw started a church down there 50 years ago and we went for the reunion. It was very humbling experience and I am so thankful we were able to go. And can I say I was worried about taking Graham on his first plane ride...but he did WONDERFUL!!! He really is a great traveller.

Life has been somewhat crazy for us because our washing machine flooded our house last week. My house is in such a mess and I can't stand it. I know it could be worse though. So we went and stayed at our Grandparent's house while fans dried out our house. Got home, had a tornado the next day (no damage to our house), lost electricity, and packed up again to stay at out Grandparents. So now we are home again and I still managed to have Halloween at my house tonight. We dressed Graham up as a scarecrow and he was absolutely precious. My nephew, Jacob, came over and we all went trick-or-treating. We had fun.

So Graham is 8 months old! WOW! (I didn't take his 8 month picture in his bed this month b/c we weren't home)

So what are you up to these days???
- You're wearing a size 3 diaper

- You're in 9 month clothing

- You weigh almost 19 lbs

- You're eating 3 times a day now. You've also started a few finger foods... graduate puffs are your favorite

- STILL NO TEETH...but the Doctor says that's good b/c your teeth will be strong

- You take two naps a day

- You've been on your first plane ride

-You are so curious about everything

- You love to be around crowds of people

- You love to bounce..whether it's in your jumperoo or in our laps
- You love to laugh :)

We love you so much!!! You are such a blessing!

Happy Fall Y'all

Fall is one of my most favorite times of the year, next to Christmas. I always look forward to the cool days, soups, fall decorations, pumpkin spiced lattes from Starbucks, turtlenecks, thanksgiving, pumpkins, canton trips, yummy "fall" candles, and the list goes on. This year however, I'll be hunting with my husband. He has been busy getting his deer stand ready, building ladders, and putting corn out for the deer. I think I'll just like being in the stand with him. I hope I can be quiet or I'll probably not be allowed back. HA!! I wonder if bass pro has pink huntin clothes? :) We will be hunting in Athens this year and staying at our grandparents house. I love their house....their back porch looks out into the woods. I could sit on the back porch and drink coffee all day with my mother-in law and her mother. Very quaint ........I can't wait. Michelle (my mother-in-law) and I just love to cook. We're always looking for yummy new recipes. It's a joke b/c when Jeremy and I first started dating in high school he would always ask me what I wanted to do. My response was always...."what's Michelle cooking for dinner..lets just hang out over there." Throughout our dating relationship we were always over at his parent's house and we still are today. We love being with our family. Anyways, Michelle is a magnificent cook and she has taught me a lot. So I thought I would post one our favorite fall recipes.....

Mexican Chicken-Corn Chowder

Ingredients
3 tablespoons butter or margarine
4 skinned and boned chicken breast halves, cut into bite-size pieces (1 1/2 pounds)
1 small onion, chopped
2 garlic cloves, minced
2 cups half-and-half
2 cups shredded Monterey Jack cheese
2 (14 3/4-ounce) cans cream-style corn
1 (4.5-ounce) can chopped green chiles, undrained
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground cumin
2 tablespoons chopped fresh cilantro
Garnishes: chopped fresh cilantro, Anaheim chile , sour cream

Preparation
Melt butter in a Dutch oven over medium-high heat; add chicken, onion, and garlic, and sauté 10 minutes. Stir in next 7 ingredients; cook over low heat, stirring often, 15 minutes. Stir in 2 tablespoons cilantro. Garnish, if desired. It's also wonderful with tortilla chips.

Enjoy and again.....Happy Fall!!!!!!

Fun in the Sun

We're back from Lake Greeson and we had so much fun! It was such a relaxing weekend. Graham did wonderful and was so incredibly sweet this weekend. He loves being around lots of people. Jeremy's dad and mawmaw both had a birthday recently. So it was also a time of celebration :) They are both such wonderful people, we were glad to spend the weekend with them. Graham stayed on the boat from 10-4 on Sunday!!! I can't believe it! He loved it! I was worried at first b/c he hated his life jacket. It was then I prayed "Lord, I BELIEVE you can make him LOVE his life jacket...so do something, please!!!" Well, our Lord is so good...he loved his life jacket after that..I mean it was an instant change! HA! Not only can I trust Him with the big things in life, but also the small:) Well, I'm already wishing we were back. However, this is an exciting week for my husband. He decided to make a change in jobs. He is now working as an engineer for Petrohawk Energy. I am so proud of him. He is such a wonderful daddy and a very hard worker! I am so thankful that the Lord brought us together - almost 9 years ago. WOW! That's a long time :)

Graham is thinkin.... "What is going on?"

He still didn't understand what was happening :)

Oh how he looks just like his Daddy:)

Graham's First Play Date :)

So today was a fun day. I got together with my friend Lindsey, her sweet mother, and her precious son, Mason. Lindsey and I have been friends for many years. We always have fun when we get together. Graham was amazed by Mason. He would just stare at him the whole time!!! He's ready to be a big boy like Mason. Mason was so cute - I can't believe how big he is!!!! Hopefully this was the first of many play dates for them. I had to take some pictures.....

This was the best picture we could get of them...and do you notice Graham sitting up?
Our "sitting up" boot camp must have worked:)

Hope everyone has a great Labor Day weekend. The whole Cheney family is headed up to Lake Greeson this weekend. I have so much to do!!! It's a JOB getting all of us packed!!! I'm sure I'll get some great pictures that I can share later!

THE LOOK

Well, Graham is known to give us a certain look before he gets upset. I finally got a picture of it tonight. It is so funny. So here it is.......

Are you ready.............

And here he was 2 minutes later.........:)

He has such a personality! Graham and a I stayed the night at his Gigi's house last night and he was so much fun. We went and ate Italian and shopped for the rest of the evening. He just laughed and played with his Gigi and I all night . Jeremy and his Dad have been at the deer lease this weekend setting up their deer stands. So it was fun to have a girl's (and Graham) night. We were saying it won't be long until all Graham wants to do is "guy stuff" with his Daddy, PawPaw, and Uncle Josh. Graham will be huntin with them before I know it. So I guess I better enjoy my time with Graham while I have it.

Graham has his 6 month pictures next weekend. He is trying so hard to sit up and he actually stays up for a little bit. So we're going to have a "sitting up boot camp" this week. I really want him sitting up for his pictures next weekend. Can't wait to post those pictures :)

Here he was trying to sit up tonight :)

Just love him!!!!

Bittersweet

Tomorrow is the start of a new school year. Having taught for three years, I know the excitement that all teachers are feeling right now. I always had so much fun decorating my room and meeting my new students. However, I haven't been getting my room ready, making copies, or even shopping for back to school clothes (not that I don't have plans to shop). Oh, how life has changed. I have a better job now! I am staying home with our son. I will certainly miss everything that a new school year brings, but I am so thankful that I get to stay home with Graham. I know it's not for everyone, but it's definitely that right thing for us. The Lord has blessed us so much and I thank Him everyday for allowing me to be at home. I am already making some big plans for us. I signed Graham up for a fall class. He will be participating in a music and play class at Munchkins' Melodies. The class is for babies and their mothers. So fun!!! I am so excited. Even though I feel a bit of sadness about not teaching 1st grade this year. I am already thinking of all the things I want to teach Graham. So I guess I'll never stop being a teacher. Most of all, I can't wait to teach my son about Jesus! I just want to be the kind of mother, wife, and teacher that the Lord wants me to be. I know that children learn so much from the examples they have around them. I pray I can always be a godly example for my son.

So Graham is sitting in his highchair now. When I put him in it he squeals with delight because he knows that he's about to get food!
Trying to sit up........

He holds his hands while taking a bottle! LOVE IT!!
